Stanley2187
1991Pontiac Grand Prix SE 3.1 LV6/AT-loaded accessories. I have a problem that this vehicle will not start. It will crank, with a new battery and I have changed plugs and wires. I get spark on wires, fuel pump sounds like it is working to prime system when key is on and after cranking, get fuel pressure to rail when release/check valve on fuel rail is pressed. Car will run with "starting fluid" sprayed in intake. Please Help!.
Baddflash
Well if it runs on SF then it's deffinately a fuel problem. Could be a number of reasons for that, could be fuel filter, pump, pressure regulator, injectors/harness. Probably more but it's hard to say. Baddflash
oil pressure sensor? What would that have to do with anything? :? :?:
3pt1lumina
Clogged fuel filter??
Dan94Z34
the oil sensor can cause a no start, because if the sensor detects no oil pressure at cranking, then it will not allow the car to start.
chadz34
Yeah, it could anything.
embalmer41
You are correct Dan. If the engine has a low oil pressure, the oil pressure sensor will shut down the fuel pump to save the engine. Pretty ingenious.
