cryptnix Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 Anyone have Autotap to scan there 3100's? I am trying to figure out something. I have my issue fixed with my knock sensor but I am still getting negative readings for timing and a few other things... and I am just currious if anyone else can help me out with figuring out if this is normal or what, or if its just that my PCM has relearned itself and that I need to disconnect the battery or something ... Anyway ... your words would be nice. Quote
terryk2003 Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 ok...i'm a dumbass...so, please tell me what Autotap is!?... :? Quote
cryptnix Posted April 19, 2005 Author Report Posted April 19, 2005 Autotap is a diagnostic program. Quote
terryk2003 Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 Autotap is a diagnostic program. is that the one you have on your laptop!?... Quote
terryk2003 Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 you should hoook it up to my car and tell me whats wrong with it! Quote
cryptnix Posted April 19, 2005 Author Report Posted April 19, 2005 maybe ... just change your cat around 140,000 miles. Quote
terryk2003 Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 just change your cat around 140,000 miles. :? :?: ...my car only has 73k miles on it...its got this surging issue when i take off easy...i'm a lil worried...think it might be an intake gasket or head... BUT, what do you need to know about yours anywayz? Quote
cryptnix Posted April 19, 2005 Author Report Posted April 19, 2005 prolly i know someone that'll do it for $200 ~ $300 Quote
1BADVR4 Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 Could you be more specific on what kind of readings you are getting and what problem you are trying to correct? Quote
terryk2003 Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 prolly i know someone that'll do it for $200 ~ $300 well, i get to do it myself... wooo HOooo...i just really don't feel like fuckin with this anymore...i need a L67 Quote
cryptnix Posted April 19, 2005 Author Report Posted April 19, 2005 minus the error code ... but the advance timing and whatnot is alittle odd ... Quote
terryk2003 Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 i have a Autoxray scanner...i'll hook it up and see what mine reads as far as advance... Quote
1BADVR4 Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 Look at the fuel trim on bank 2. It's trying (unsuccessfully) to lean it out. That could explain the misfires. You may have a sticking injector or a poor spray pattern. Have you pulled plugs? Quote
cryptnix Posted April 19, 2005 Author Report Posted April 19, 2005 not yet ... :-) I have the platinum plugs and wires in this thing everyone says its to much for this engine ... don't get me wrong i know what it is it isn't a power house .... Quote
1BADVR4 Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 Pull plugs in that bank. You will probably find one thats fouled with fuel. That would be your sticking/poor spray pattern injector. Quote
terryk2003 Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 damn...i wanna go hook my scanner up now so you can tell me what the fucks wrong with my car!!... Quote
cryptnix Posted April 19, 2005 Author Report Posted April 19, 2005 damn...i wanna go hook my scanner up now so you can tell me what the fucks wrong with my car!!... what color is your oil? checked the radiator? you don't want chocolate looking oil ... Quote

Probably not. Unless it's the head gasket and you're dumping coolant into the combustion chamber also. Quote

Probably not. Unless it's the head gasket and you're dumping coolant into the combustion chamber also. any way of finding that out without tearing the whole engine down!?... -Pull the plugs and inspect them -Look for bubbling through your overflow tank (combustion gasses getting in the cooling system) -Inspect the oil for traces of coolant (would indicate intake leak) -Pressure test the cooling system with the plugs out and inspect for air leaking there. (i just invented this technique i think...it seems like it would work) You probably have an intake leak. It's very common. It's easy to do. It would take me about 4 hours. I did both head gaskets on a 94 in a total of 10 hours with no air tools at the time. Quote
terryk2003 Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 -Inspect the oil for traces of coolant (would indicate intake leak) i do that alot...its been 3k miles since the last change and the oil level is still where i put it and its all oil...coolant is the only thing thats a lil low...could it just be leaking coolant out of the intake!?...
