HELP: 89 Grand Prix stalling and wont start...

OK, so it will run once it has been boosted, correct? Sounds like the alt. isn't charging, battery is toast, or a combo of the two. Both are easy fixes.

Don't listen to the guy that told you to get a Honda or Toyota. Pre '98 GM's are just fine, and reliable as any Toyota as long as you keep it maintained. Talk to anyone here that owns one.

 

Replace the Alternator, I'm almost sure that's your problem, as I have had the same problem, on the same exact car! I'd press the brake, and the power would spike and the alternator couldn't handle it. Get the battery tested, as the bad alternator could have caused the battery to become faulty.

:withstupid: just do what he said i used to have that problem too i did the same thing.

Its not the alt or bat. they are both brand new and both tested OK at the mechanic
