Guest Anonymous Posted April 13, 2005 Report Posted April 13, 2005 Right now on the RPE, it has those two big ass rusted rectangular exhaust tips on it... which are kinda ugly. I have some old turbo grand prix magazine thingy from 88 and it shows it with 4 chrome round tips, two in each opening. I would like to replicate this look. Whats the best way to do it? I just want to replace the tips... and where can i buy them? does a place like midas have to install them or is it a DIY project? Quote
Brian P Posted April 13, 2005 Report Posted April 13, 2005 Based on the stock tips curvature, you'd need to get ones custom made, that is if you keep the stock mufflers. And for the record I highly doubt your stock tips are RUSTED, seeing as they're cast aluminum just clean them up. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted April 13, 2005 Report Posted April 13, 2005 can i change the mufflers? All I want are 4 nice round chrome tips... Quote
White93z34 Posted April 13, 2005 Report Posted April 13, 2005 get a SOS pad or a brillo pad and go at them, works wonders on mine, then again mine are steel. but i know what your talking about, i remember seeing those in my one pontiac brochoure i got. if i had a prix or whatnow i'd try and find a set of them, but your best bet is probably a custom exhaust shop. Brian P Posted April 13, 2005 Report Posted April 13, 2005 yeah you can change the mufflers but when a shop installs them they have to angle them downward a bit. The pipes are "higher" than the bumper cutouts on your car. Quote
THe_DeTAiL3R Posted April 13, 2005 Report Posted April 13, 2005 What about dual tips from 04+ GP? I don't really like them, though.. Quote
mfewtrail Posted April 13, 2005 Report Posted April 13, 2005 To replicate the look of that TGP in the magazine, just buy any "dual dual" outlet round/rolled edge tips. The ones on the TGP you mentioned looked to be around 3'' outlet diameter. 3.5'' outlet diameter fills in the B4U cutouts nicely(I think I have 3.5'' outlet tips on my SE, I thought I was ordering smaller tips..but they didn't turn out that bad looking anyways) Like these basically.....$39/each from JcWhitney. http://home.alltel.net/mfewtrail/pics/SE_oc6.jpg ^the picture is about about half a mb in size, just warning ya' in case you're on dial-up. Guest Anonymous Posted April 13, 2005 Report Posted April 13, 2005 What about dual tips from 04+ GP? I don't really like them, though.. YUK! Those look disgusting. Those 3" ones, are they a single exhaust in each opening or two in each? Quote
Dirty Rockstar Posted April 13, 2005 Report Posted April 13, 2005 Here is what I am using for my Dual setup: They are from a Cadillac Seville.. They look sharp.. And, I used Meguiar's Mirror Glaze proefessional 28 All Metal Polish.. And a brillo pad.. Shined up real nice (Although took some effort..) EDIT: Otherwise, THESE are an option: Quote

mfewtrail Posted April 14, 2005 Report Posted April 14, 2005 Sorry about my other picture, I accidentally deleted it shortly after posting here. Here's another http://images5.theimagehosting.com/IM003042.JPG They are 1 inlet/two outlet tips(so two 3.5'' outlets on each side of the car) if you were asking me Ross. Here's the link to them on JcWhitney's website. http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/ItemBrowse/c-10101/s-10101/p-100000185201/mediaCode-ZX/appId-100000185201/Pr-p_CATENTRY_ID:100000185201 You might also want to check these out.. http://fasttoys.net/shop/index.php?cPath=157_162_208_298 I plan to get the stainless dual outlet/rolled edge tips there for my GTP(getting the "slash cut" ones since I already have straight-cut tips on the SE). http://fasttoys.net/shop/images/stra25ongp.jpg?osCAdminID=fa53699fba3ba7f22d8ba008e1b0ee93&osCAdminID=fa53699fba3ba7f22d8ba008e1b0ee93&osCAdminID=a8ee6a46ccf2c5895e493db381322f43&osCAdminID=a8ee6a46ccf2c5895e493db381322f43 Quote

mfewtrail Posted April 14, 2005 Report Posted April 14, 2005 Yep... thats EXACTLY what im looking for. Did you install them yourself? how'd u do so? I had them installed by a friend at a local exhaust shop, they're welded on. Quote
5speedz34 Posted April 14, 2005 Report Posted April 14, 2005 That's how most exhaust is put on w/a weld. Quote
