weird noise when coding

93 3.1/4t60e. i'm trying to figure out why my car won't run for more thatn a minute the other day and while coding it, i hear a weird noise from the engine bay. i took the fan relays out so i didn't drain my battery and that's when i heard it. it's coming from under the plenum and it sounds like a mini air compressor. also i keer getting the code for the map sensor, but i can't find a vacuum leak anywhere. any ideas?

My car actually has a mini air compressor under the hood..

 

But really, I have no idea. When you were trying to pull codes, you didn't have the engine on, did you?

speaking of air compressors my grandma's Lincoln scared the shit out of me today. I was in the driveway prying on my rear brakes when i hear a buzzing sound come from her car and the damn thing levels out. Damn air supsension

 

As for your problem...only thing only the plenum that i could see causing that would be the fuel rail/injectors, maybe that buzzing is the fuel pressure escaping when you turn the key to check codes

idk. this is getting frustrating, though. after i switched my new battery in, i couldn't get the car to start. then when i put the charger on i got the same thing. the charger clamps did get really hot, though. and for some reason i'm not getting any codes now.

 

as for the weird sound, i was thinking maybe a fuel injector was constantly pulsing? if i put my hand on the plenum i can feel it, so i know it's directly under there or attached to it. i'm trying to get it to run long enough to do an idle relearn, but no luck so far.

 

any other ideas? i'm desperate

Hmmm....when I try pulling the codes on my cars, the fan will usually come on. Don't know about anything other then that, though.
