idle problem gp

A girl on my block has like a 95 gp, has the tiny headlights, not too good on gp years. Definately not a gtp, guessing it has a 3100 im not sure. Exhaust dont sound like a 3.1. Anyhoo shes takin it to 11 mechanics and they dont know whats wrong with it. When she just sits at a light or something the idle will just jump to 3,000 or just erratic. Her dad bought it online so that tells u somebody didnt want it and didnt want it anywhere near them anymore. They said its not the computer. Any really good ideas?

I'd check the IAC first. Next, the TPS. Then, check all the vacuum lines. Afterwards, check the MAP sensor out.

What slick said, + vacuum leaks from the gaskets, as well. Maybe a wiring issue, too. My TSTE still goes nuts very frequently at random times, and I always wined up with a SES light for "TPS voltage low", even though it's brand new, and once I got a "MAP sensor voltage high". Coincidentally, they share a ground, so I'm suspecting an electrical/wiring problem.
