PeNZ
Sup guys ive noticed that my exhaust is starting to smell like rotten eggs. Im not getting any troubles with the engine stalling or anything. Is my cat on its way out??
slick
It's the cat. If I were you, I'd just go 2.5" while your replacing it.

GP1138
Find out what killed the cat. They don't just die, something's not right with your motor, running rich or lean.
99RegalGS
Too bad you have emissions by you, otherwise I'd say hollow that thing out.
cutlass1991
you might need a new oxygen sensor. My car stinks and gets shitty gas mileage, so it's kind of obvious that it is running too rich. I thought it was the cat, but my car just passed emissions by a very wide margin. The guy at the shop told me it's even better than some new cars. But I'd say check the O2 sensor before you buy a new cat.
White93z34
Why are you smelling your exhaust in the first place? thats just weird. j/k anyhow, change the cat and O2. the cat is 10 years old now, its probably due for changeing as is the O2 sensor. cutlass1991
Why are you smelling your exhaust in the first place? I often lock myself in the garage and smell the exhaust just to make sure everything is running properly.

Grand Moff Joseph
I'm thinking sarcasm is in order here...lol Anyway, my Lumina has been doing the same thing, and we replaced the cat last year too. So, would the O2 sensor be at fault, and how much are those things?

cryptnix
its 11 years old ... mine is 10 years old I'm thinking sarcasm is in order here...lol Anyway, my Lumina has been doing the same thing, and we replaced the cat last year too. So, would the O2 sensor be at fault, and how much are those things? $30 ish... Cars are powered by computers. Need I say ANYTHING more? After time spyware, and virus' clog up (bad sensors) .... any more of a dumb way to explain it?
topless94style
When I did my exhaust, I added a carsound cat I bought for about $40, it smelled kinda bad for the first couple months brand new. Kinda freaked me out, I thought the engine had a problem, but it turned out fine, and the smell went away. I just cut the entire down pipe off my car, if you want the cat, it was used for 11months, and about 1500miles. Im building a 3" DP w/o cat for the turbo so i have no use for it now.
