93CutlassSupreme Posted April 4, 2005 Report Posted April 4, 2005 interesting...i can't wait for the members with a lot of trans-know-how to get into the differences between that and Dex III Dex III hasn't been around that long either.... i wonder if Ford will use the same fluid, like they did with Dex III also.... GP1138 Posted April 4, 2005 Report Posted April 4, 2005 If this is indeed a better fluid, I'll be picking some up before the summer is out! Sweet! Quote
pitzel Posted April 4, 2005 Report Posted April 4, 2005 From that I've read of the stuff, it is essentially Dex III, but full synthetic, having the properties of synthetic oils. The use of synthetic fluids was optional with the Dex-III spec, and there weren't many brands of synthetic ATF on the market. The new stuff will be backwards-compatible with Dex-III, but will likely cost 2-3X as much. The product will be of the most benefit to those who do not any sort of transmission fluid maintenance as it will remain serviceable for longer than the previous fluids would. Quote
Justin Posted April 4, 2005 Report Posted April 4, 2005 i wonder if Ford will use the same fluid, like they did with Dex III also.... I doubt it, since Ford hasn't really used that for many years now. The predominant fluid now is Mercon V, but Mercon SP is used in the new F250 and heavier trucks. Maybe others as well, but those for sure. Quote
Daggar Posted April 4, 2005 Report Posted April 4, 2005 Hmm wonder if it's safe for my Truck with the Turbo 400. Quote
