anyone have 88-90 w-body service manuals

i am trying to find out if the service manual gives instructions on how to rebuld the getrag 282 transmission. I am going to be doing this very soon adn need the info

You can get a 88-96 manual @ helminc.com for like $30, they have a sale going on.

that is not what i am asking. I know they are on sale (it is 88-95) I need to know if the manual contains the information on how to rebuild the 282. tear down and build up instructions. I will buy the manual if it has the info

I know in my '92 that they have how to tear down the trans, but I'm not sure if it has how to rebuild it. It does have how to replace synchros and such. When GM had these tran's if they needed to rebuilt they sent them out so probably not to much was really needed in the manual.

 

I guess what I'm trying to say is yeah it'll be in there.

i am surprised they ahve any info in there about the 284 trans because it is not serviceable

It's serviceable, but GM choose to outsource it to Getrag, and do a exchange program.

I just checked my 90...it has sections for the 3T40, 4T60, and 5TM40 manual.

Yep, just a different name for the HM-282.

interesting....now in the manual does it give detail rebuild drawings. I want to make sure i dont buy the manual for nothing
