no more trans problems (hopefully)

got my Cutlass back from a local trans shop yesterday

 

i took it in because the shifter would pop out of 5th gear, sometimes would refuse to go into any gear at all, the trans would make a loud ass grinding noise when the clutch was engaged, the car would buck under no throttle while in gear, and a couple times the trans just locked up and i couldn't move the car

 

shop told me some sun gears were fucked up in the trans, didn't say what ones

 

anyways i had them put in a used trans and a new clutch, and the car drives normally. first is hard to get into sometimes, but the rest are fine, and i figure i'll be alright if this car can go a few more months without anything expensive breaking.

sounds good...If its only hard to get into first under motion, I think that is normal...I know my Dad's GT 5.0 Mustang acts just like that...

I'd say the first gear thing is pretty normal - my RX-7 is sometimes difficult to down shift from say 2 to 1 gear when approaching a red light or something...never thought anything of it

I'm pritty sure its just the interlock not letting you into first until a certain speed.
