89BuickRegalGS
Ok, my car did that thing again where it doesn't feel like its shifting up to teh next gear and I am over-revving it. Kinda like accelerating in 2nd gear but not upshifting. So I payed more attention to what was happening and this is what i observed: The car was cold after sitting for the night, and the gas peddle felt harder. It took more effort to push it down, like I was trying to accelerate through molasus. So i backed off and pushed down harder and faster, and it kinda felt like it freed up a little, but thats when the whole thing with the transmission happened. By moving the gear selesctor from OD to D, the car shifted up and everything was fine. Very confusing....
Guest RedCutlassSL
Sounds like what just happened to me. There was a short in the wiring for my transmission, and a bad switch.
89BuickRegalGS
do you know what the name of the switch is, and is it something i can check on myself to see if it works?
GnatGoSplat
Your transmission is not electronic, so it's hard to say... A hard pedal and transmission problems don't usually go together. You might try readjusting your TV cable. There's a button on it near the firewall that you press, and it will pop out. Then (with the engine not running) you floor the accelerator and that will reset the TV cable. Not wanting to upshift could also be a sign of internal tranny problems. crc
You might wanna also just take a quick look at the throttle body. Check all the vacuum lines and the seal.
