Justin Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 The Vettes have been using the monoleafs since '68. Quote
Brian P Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 Everyone knocks it, but God bless it. We coulda been fucked and have rear suspensions like gen 1.5 Luminas.... Quote
Canada Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 It has a lower center of gravity than nearly everyother suspension out there.... Quote
Stevo Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 Less parts too... although they could have designed the layout better in terms of lasting longer than a fart in a windstorm once those POS rubber ends started to wear. I wonder what carbon fibre would be like instead. Quote
bluegp Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 The Vettes have been using the monoleafs since '68. Since '63 actually. Quote
94CutlassSLCoupe Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 All my friends are like WTF when i told them about the rear suspension...but it truly is a good rear suspension...lotsa trunk space too Quote
Guest TurboSedan Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 wrong section....this is being moved. Quote
GnatGoSplat Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 You also don't need as large of a rear sway bar on a rear monoleaf as compared to rear coil springs. The monoleaf is good, people just don't like it because it greatly reduces lowering possibilities. Quote
1990lumina Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 Only reason I don't like it is because it sags over time Quote
94CutlassSLCoupe Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 a lot of times it looks like its sagging (as it was in my case) but in reality either the rear alignment is off or the struts are shot Quote
Brian P Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 The fiberglass is supposed to keep its shape and sag less compared to a leaf made of steel. I think the cars that sag with barely any weight on them were like that since new (I had a '90 CS with a sagging rear at only 80k. Got a spring from an FE3 car and all was well) Quote

There area few B4U Grand Prix's around here that looked slammed in the rear. Quote

I happened to glance under one that was parked (don't ask) and the spring actually was SPLIT! The bushings were gone (probably a while). Quote
mihela816 Posted April 1, 2005 Report Posted April 1, 2005 All those bushings in the back wear out, too and drop the car a bit. Quote
bartonmd Posted April 1, 2005 Report Posted April 1, 2005 ... is there a place to get those bushings? Like Eurothane bushings for the leaf or something? Mike Quote

comptech_69 Posted April 12, 2005 Report Posted April 12, 2005 I like the rear suspension, just minus the fact its nearly impossible to lower Quote
