3800 Engine Swap

I've decided that after I do all the cosmetic work to my car, I'm gonna give it some serious balls  ...what's too much to pay for a 3800 w\or w\out a supercharger. I've got a buddy w\a killer garage, so labor's not a problem. But just in case his shop spontainiously combusts, how much would it be for professional intallation?

If you have a buddy with a killer garage He shoul know the costs of both. Do a search. This topick comes up every day with all the would be hotrodders.

Just type in 3800 and you will get more than you can read in a day.

If you are getting an L67, I'd get a fire extinguisher with it for that reason...lol

You saw it yourself, they have a fucking fuel rail connection right on top of the supercharger, which becuz of low efficiency isn't exactly cold either, don't tell me that isn't asking for a problem...

But that blower does sound good...You make me want to click it again, and make me want to do a supercharged LQ1 Fiero all over again...

Check out http://www.car-part.com for engines. Also go to club gp and pm Ed Morad, he should have everything you need to do a swap.

Actually i have never had any problems and I have never seen anything like for all the swaps I have done. Both motors are very easy to install in the car. The stock DP from the 3800 pretty much bolts in. The biggest thing is the axles and wiring but all that stuff can be bought. I am in the process of making adapters so the swap is plug and play. If you want alot of info on it check out http://www.l67swap.com My self and alot of other people have gotten alot of information together. If you want to figure costs: Labor is going to be 1200+ and then parts is going to be about the same depending on what motor you choose.

RedCutlass, if you aren't getting an L67, don't bother swapping a 3800 in. The N/A 3800 for the most part is pretty ballsless. No where near as bad as the 3.1 of course, but a 3.4 TDC would walk all over an N/A 3800 with no problem. I'm considering the L67 swap in my Bonne, and if you do the work yourself, it should be well under $1500 for the complete swap.

all i have to say is when you do the swap dont do it cheap do it right. I learned that the hard way and ended up spending alot of extra money and time fixing things that should have never happened

I disagree strongly. I drove my friend's '04 Monte, with the N/A 3800 SII, and it was nowhere near ballsless. I doubt the 3.4 could beat it.

if he get a series 1 or series 2 3800 it will be ballsless. but the series 2 does have a turbo kit coming out he could get for it so it would not be ballsless. or if he wants he could try for the series 3 3800 which is a pretty stout engine.

please don't let this get into another 3.4 vs. 3800 battle

...cause we all know the 3.4 would kick some 12-valve a$$
