toastemcutlass Posted January 20, 2003 Report Posted January 20, 2003 thinking of tring to take the pletnum off a newer 3.4 to put on my old one. the reason I want to do this is because the 3.4 off the line power is not there cuz of the dohc. my friend has a newer monte and her intake is alot longer then mine is, basically like having a trottle body spacer to get off the line power. think it will bolt up but not sure, any suggetions. Gm said to get the extra hp out of the motor they modified the intake and exhaust. Quote
Vegeta Posted January 20, 2003 Report Posted January 20, 2003 That will do the opposite of what you want. GM did more than exhaust and intake work onthe 96 motors. Raised compression, different combustion chamber design, dished exhaust. The 96 intake plenum wont match a 91-95 lower intake or fuel rail, and the tube off the TB doesnt do anything for a powerband either. Using a 96 intake setup on your motor would raise the powerband up, meaning worse low end. If you want low end, do head work. Quote
GnatGoSplat Posted January 21, 2003 Report Posted January 21, 2003 Yeah, also consider you have to pull the entire plenum to change the plugs on a 96-97. Do you really want to have to do this? To me, it's not worth it. Quote
