john99gtp
Hey guys. Lately my tranny has been acting weird. Sometimes it will shift hard through all upshifts, and sometimes it doesnt. And I mean, HARD! it slams into gear. When it does shift hard, it will do it for the ENTIRE drive. If i shut the car off and let it sit for about 2 hours, it may or may not be fine (most of the time its fine once it sits) When I got my car dyno'd, I also scanned it. Came back with the DTC 1811. I found this page, which is practically exactly all the symptoms i am having. http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/WebX?14@512.EaUtcoJQXei.1@.ee9945e/341 So basically, my question is, how hard would it be to change the Pressure Control Solenoid myself?? I think its way over my head, but if it is not, I would like to take a shot at it. Any ideas?? I really dont wanna goto a repair place and get charged an arm and a leg. Any info would be awesome and greatly appreciated. thanks John

john99gtp
welp, major update thursday, dropped off the car, explained what was happening, the code i was pulling blah blah. left feeling like they werent gonna do anything if the code didnt pop up. got a call at work. they wanted to drop the pan to see if there was any debris. i guess the road tests found something wrong  They wanted to keep it for the night. Drove the work van home (Pimping the cable van, w00t) friday, call back, find out that they are going to need it all day today and monday Its also going to cost around 1100 bucks. I didnt catch exactly what was wrong, but from the sounds of it, more then just the solenoids. So they called enterprise (since they wont loan me a car (being only 20)) and set up a rental. so i have no GTP all weekend, was supposed to goto a mod day tomorrow, driving around in a Kia Rio (ugh!!!!) its only friday, 2nd day without it, and i miss it already !!! i dont know how im gonna make it through the weekend. :sigh: Oh well, i guess its better to fix it now then wait till it blows up. John PS: im only paying around 240, the warranty is covering all except 1.5 hours of labor and i have a $100 deductible.

john99gtp
:willynilly::willynilly::willynilly::willynilly::willynilly::willynilly: got her back today, god damn did i miss her. She needed the Pressure Control Solenoid and the TCC solenoid replaced. 800+ bucks (better then the 1200 she told me last week) But I only payed 185, muwhahahaha /me hugs his warranty So, if anyone gets a code P1811 on their 4T65-E, you can at least see what your up against. As for me, imma drive like a granny for a week or so, dont wanna push meh luck. PS: that kia sucked ass. it had 2 things going for it. 1. 10 gallon gas tank = 400 miles  2. Handled really well, I was taking on/off ramps at speeds i could only wish i could take in my GTP. (I might be able to do those speeds in the GTP, but the car would feel like it was about to rip out from under me). That thing had NO accelleration. I floored it from a stop, and it was just so....weak couldnt even break the tires loose if i wanted to.
