Intlcutlass
About a month ago on the way into work, my car (89 Cutty) started overheating. So I opened the hood and the big radiator hose on the right had burst. I let it cool, then later that daywent up to the auto store and bought all new hoses, thermostat, and thermostat housing. after all that , when the car was at operating temp, I still saw steam from the front, after a little investigation, I realized it's the radiator. Now I had just replaced the rad 4 years ago, and distinctly remember it had a lifetime warrenty. I put some stop leak in it to passify the problem for a while. If you go the store for an exchange you need the RECIEPT!!!! well this weekend I finally found it. I am sooo happy. That just saved me $200. As a reward to myself, I think I'm going to put in a new condenser too. ($105.00 @ Bumber and Auto). My fins look like hell. Also, my water pump is only a year old, so she better not have any more cooling problems. ALSO this weekend I took apart and repaired my cd player (Delco-loc II). There was a cd stuck in there. So I took it apart, trouble-shot it and realized the loading mechenism was goofy. After I played with it for a while, all that was wrong with it was a spring that wasn't so springy anymore. I pulled it apart , reinstalled it and SHAZAM !! No real point to any of this, after I found that receipt, and fixed my cd player, I'm just happy. GnatGoSplat
Congrats! I think the CD player in the convertible might have the same problem. So I guess I should be looking for a spring that's not so springy?
Intlcutlass
When I took it apart, it took me a while to find it . In mine, the spring that i am talken about was on the right side of the loading mechanism if you are looking at the stereo like your driving the car. It's right near the wall of the player, and it's round with ears. all I did was pull those ears apart to put a little extra tension in it. the local place for delco stereo repair for me "Electrosound" wanted $200.00 to fix. Thats assuming they would put in a new loader. Does anyone really believe they would do that, or would they just do what I did and take the $$$. F-EM . I'll fix whatever I can myself. I don't make nearly what I should yearly for this kinda hobby. Hey Shawn , I noticed your armrest, is ripped. I have a spare. I also have a spare electronic climate control.(you want the blue filter, I know you do) Have anything you might wanna trade????
GnatGoSplat
Sure, what are you looking for?
LukeZ34
yes, they would have replaced the CD mechanism unit itself. Then they take the old one, fix it, and turn around and put them back in to ones that need replaced. I replaced the cd mechanism in my lumina's cd player for $105. I just sent them my old one, and they sent me the new one. Though my problem wasn't an easy fixer like yours, there was something actually wrong with the circuitry in the unit.
