TeeJay3800
I need a wiring diagram for the RADIO. Specifically, just the head unit (you know that smaller part that has the display). I think it is from a 1993 Regal Gran Sport, but I am not 100% certain about it. The face has all buttons (no knobs), the display, ON/OFF, SEEK, SCAN, AM/FM, SET, RCL, 5 PRESETS, BASS +/-, TREB +/-, VOL +/-, TUNE UP/DN, and BALANCE. If you can get me a diagram of this, I would REALLY appreciate it. Thanks.

TeeJay3800
If it was that simple, then I would just take the diagram out of one of my Cutlass Supreme books. This thing does NOT have any speaker wires. This is what is wired up to the RECEIVER, and the RECEIVER is what has the speaker wires. This is what I have got. 3 connecotors. BLACK connector (A): 1. empty 2. empty 3. empty 4. BLACK/WHITE (ground?????) 5. TAN/BLACK 6. empty 7. empty 8. empty WHITE connector (: 1. empty 2. GREEN 3. ORANGE (power) 4. YELLOW (switched power/FUSE) 5. BROWN/WHITE (display dimming?????) 6. BROWN 7. BLACK (ground) 8. empty small BLACK connector: 1. empty 2. GRAY (dimming) 3. empty 4. GREEN (data for steering wheel controls?????) 5. BLACK (ground) Hopefully, this will clarify it better. As I said..... It is NOT the normal radio like you would find in a Cutlass, or Grand Prix. Here is a pic of one that is IDENTICAL to the one that I am using. Here is the ebay auction. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=38639&item=7963646656&rd=
rshissler
i had that exat set up in my car 88 regal. But when i installed my cd player i just ran all new wires for the power and ground and the speakers for a better connection and sound. because the factory wires might have been fraid along the way somwhere or a lose connects so i jsut ran all new wiring. PFJ5K
According to my 92 manual the wires are C1 - to receiver 1. empty 2. dark green - data line 3. orange - power input (hot at all times) 4. yellow - radio power input 5. brown/white - VF PWM illumination input 6. also listed as yellow in book but you said it is brown - lights on input 7. black - ground 8. empty C2 - to steering wheel 1. black - ground 2. dark green - data line (steering wheel controls & ALDL connector, can you read radio trouble codes with a scanner???) 3. empty 4. gray - panel light 5. empty C3 - to cd, tape, or tape with equalizer 1. dark green - data line (probably only there if you have an equalizer) 2. empty 3. empty 4. black - ground 5. tan/black - VF PWM illumination output 6. empty 7. empty 8. purple/white - lights on signal output (probably only with eq or cd display ??) The radio you have is probably from 88-90, I think 91 and later all have knobs instead of buttons. The 88 & 89 gp control head is the same thing just in a different color, I saw one of those in a regal one time.
