1990lumina
So after inspecting my car for damage(see my other post in the whatever section) but if you didn't read the other post nevermind then lol..my car wasn't hit luckily...just very close. So, I used my remote starter to start the car as usual...and when I was walking around to my trunk to throw my backpack in the trunk I noticed my car seemed to be running very rich (smelled heavily of gasoline) I know my gas tank isn't leaking. I had no SES codes either...and after driving home the car performed well the whole way, and it wasn't smelling at all when I got home. It was around -10C here...hmm, so 28 or so degree F. if that makes any difference. I think it probably flooded itself a bit on a colder start...but either way I was just wonmdering. What would have caused the car to run rich for that little while? Did the injectors inject to much gas on the startup? I'm pretty sure the car is running good still...but again, I'm just wondering what could have happened for those few minutes to cause a richer mix? - Jeff L. JoroCorona
In cold conditions the car is gonna run rich until warm. The faster the car warms up, the faster it can get into closed loop on the computer. The faster it gets to closed loop, the faster it can control emmisions. So it richens the mix amd makes a furnace in the combustion chamber until warm.
