You could have just removed the throttlebody to avoid all the frustration of getting at those 2 bolts.

 

Anyhow, glad to hear your car is running normal again :thumbsup:

16. Grab 13mm socket, extension and 3/8" ratchet and remove the throttle body's top bolt

17. Realize that the bottom bolt has more threads sticking out of the head and grab a 13mm wrench

18. Spend 10 minutes removing THAT bolt in the same fashion the bottom thermostat housing bolt was removed

19. Remove throttle body cable mount, and remove throttle body

Interestingly enough, I have a superstat in there that opens at 190 instead of my last one that opened at like 210. I guess it could be worse

The Meijer one.... from what I could tell... was opening at like 240... seriously...

 

My temp gauge was pointing straight up like 75% of the time.

normally i'd yell at someone for buying a thermostat from meijers or an such store. but it was what 3am?? when we got it. who else is open at 3am.

I took off the throttle body, it's only like 4 bolts and then you got direct access. ;)
