digitaloutsider Posted March 14, 2005 Report Posted March 14, 2005 The '87 would be a RWD combination. No. It won't work. Quote

3.1LUMITIC Posted March 14, 2005 Report Posted March 14, 2005 if i my ask how did you blow that 3.1? ive seen them run with a 400 shot nawwss and with no oil or water lol. for like 10 mins Quote
Justin Posted March 14, 2005 Report Posted March 14, 2005 The '87 would be a RWD combination. No. It won't work. So? It has a RWD 3.8, with the starter under the right cyl. bank. No room for a FWD trans in there, and the block probably won't have the right motor mount provisions, which isn't as big a deal. Either way, a fwd 3.8 is easy enough to find to not mess with it. Crimson Fury Z Posted March 14, 2005 Report Posted March 14, 2005 your best bet is to find an early 90's regal w/ the tpi 3800 or if anyone can list other fwd series 1 3800's. Quote
LeRoy Posted March 14, 2005 Author Report Posted March 14, 2005 Thanks for the help fellas...Tyler asked me (THE DAD) and I couldn't help so I told him to come here...again. I don't think he thought about RWD...I know I didn't:oops: He's STILL in bed so I'll let im know. Again, Thanks guys, LeRoy Quote
Guest TurboSedan Posted March 14, 2005 Report Posted March 14, 2005 why not go with a much newer 3400 instead? the swap would be easier, and 3400s with less than 50,000 miles can be found on ebay for like $200-$300 last time i checked. Quote

The block is the same block, the motor mounts are the same. As for the starter, if it is on the wrong side, you need a drill, and a tap, problem fixed. It doesn't matter that it is a RWD from the factory, so long as you have the FWD parts (manifolds, accessories, etc). But it will be a pain, I'd really suggest a 3400, it will be the easiest swap with the best results. Quote
LeRoy Posted March 14, 2005 Author Report Posted March 14, 2005 hey guys its Tyler but i think that the 3.8 is a fwd b/c my bestfriend just rebuilt the trans. so would it fit if its a fwd motor??? Quote
Jeorge Posted March 14, 2005 Report Posted March 14, 2005 then it would fit...by any chance would this be a cutlass ciera? if so make sure its a 3.8 and not a 3.3 Quote
pwmin Posted March 14, 2005 Report Posted March 14, 2005 i think the cutlasses were 2bbl rwd but the cutlass ciera's (the smaller ones) were fwd with an fi 3.8. i think jeorge was eluding to this Quote
Guest TurboSedan Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 by any chance would this be a cutlass ciera? good point....if it's a Ciera than that 3.8 could work OK. i'd still go 3400. Quote
LeRoy Posted March 18, 2005 Author Report Posted March 18, 2005 i dunno wut it is i will have to go and look at it sometime . but thanx for all the help guys Tyler Quote
