The '87 would be a RWD combination. No. It won't work.

So?

It has a RWD 3.8, with the starter under the right cyl. bank. No room for a FWD trans in there, and the block probably won't have the right motor mount provisions, which isn't as big a deal. Either way, a fwd 3.8 is easy enough to find to not mess with it.

Guest TurboSedan

why not go with a much newer 3400 instead? the swap would be easier, and 3400s with less than 50,000 miles can be found on ebay for like $200-$300 last time i checked.

The block is the same block, the motor mounts are the same. As for the starter, if it is on the wrong side, you need a drill, and a tap, problem fixed. It doesn't matter that it is a RWD from the factory, so long as you have the FWD parts (manifolds, accessories, etc).

But it will be a pain, I'd really suggest a 3400, it will be the easiest swap with the best results.
