MoTox8410 Posted March 11, 2005 Report Posted March 11, 2005 what does everyone think about this http://www.emtacorp.com/products/default.aspx Quote
J Posted March 12, 2005 Report Posted March 12, 2005 i think they are a waste if cash myself, but do as you wish. Quote
1990lumina Posted March 12, 2005 Report Posted March 12, 2005 I think alot of that stuff isn't worth the money to buy. Plus.. I don't understand how that stuff works..like it is added to the crankcase oil right? Well, doesn't this add to much fluid down there? I know most products say something like run for 600miles and then change oil..well isn't the product gone then? I dunno, alot of those "less friction", "more performance", "better cooling" ads I think are just a money grab. I only thing I've put in my car is that Knock Reducer..because my damn 3.1 sounds like a diesel engine in the mornings. It worked for a week maybe (or maybe my mind was just telling me it was working) for a week then this knocking returned. I later found out it is common for these engines to have that "piston slap" condition and since apparently is isn't hurting anything I could care less lol. JMO - Jeff L. Quote
MoTox8410 Posted March 12, 2005 Author Report Posted March 12, 2005 im sure that for the most part all engine/oil treatments are a waste of money but every once in a while im sure there are products that might be helpful and not just a gimmick i believe this is the first "synthetic" engine treatment--everyone said synthetic oil was a waste at first and some still do today but.......you never know Quote
Brian P Posted March 12, 2005 Report Posted March 12, 2005 I say just drill a hole in a can of intake cleaner and throw it in the airbox like a live grenade. Quote
THe_DeTAiL3R Posted March 12, 2005 Report Posted March 12, 2005 everyone said synthetic oil was a waste at first and some still do today but.......you never know Yeah but with synthetic oil that is the entire contents of the oil, not a 1L bottle of magic-in-a-can that mixes in with everything and doesn't work anymore... I believe that *some* oil additive may cause some minimal improvement, but only for a short time. After it gets mixed in with the oil, dirt, and heat then it's useless. Waste of money. Change your oil often, if you got problems fix your engine! Quote
supreme_style21 Posted March 12, 2005 Report Posted March 12, 2005 Yeah I might be stubborn, but I don't believe in any of those liquid wrenches. You can get any repair in a bottle these days. I just saw a bottle of headgasket repair liquid the other day... man o man. I wouldn't believe anything that those companies say.. the information is biased. I don't believe any of the numbers or claims they put out. If an independant source tested them and released numbers, I'm a little more apt to believe them. Quote
pitzel Posted March 12, 2005 Report Posted March 12, 2005 Just run a good 5W-30 or 0W-30 motor oil, keep it topped up if its leaking, change every 7500 miles, and be done with it. The 3.1/3100/3400 engines are among the easiest engines ever built on motor oil. Except if coolant gets into the oil through an intake gasket leak Quote

gp90se Posted March 14, 2005 Report Posted March 14, 2005 I can list additives that actually work from personal experance: CD2 stopleak for slight oil leaks CD2 stop tick for slight lifter tick RESTORE for compression NO SMOKE W/ STOPLEAK for bigger oil leaks LUCAS TRANS for hard shifting trannys LUCAS OIL for cars with low oil pressure (foaming issues aside) I know a lot of people will say snakeoils dont do shit and people that swear by em, That is a list of products I have used and like. GnatGoSplat Posted March 14, 2005 Report Posted March 14, 2005 If I believed in the tooth fairy and the Easter bunny, I just might believe this stuff will do something. Quote
HokemBokem Posted March 14, 2005 Report Posted March 14, 2005 The only thing I have added to my car like that has been fuel injector cleaner/fuel system treatment. I think those acually might do something since they are going through all the gas lines. Quote
