dbtk2 Posted March 11, 2005 Report Posted March 11, 2005 I am in the process of putting 1.6 rockers in my Lumina and I don't think I'll be able to get to the back before I need to drive the car. I don't think it will make a big difference, but would it be bad to drive with 1.6's on the front (2,4,6) and 1.5's on the rear (1,3,5)? It might throw off the 02 sensor a little or something, but other than that, for a short time, is there anything it can screw up? Thanks, Shawn Quote
Bossman429 Posted March 12, 2005 Report Posted March 12, 2005 I don't forsee any problem with that. I wouldn't go out romping on it, or racing with that set up, but all it is doing it opening the valves more than the other side. On the topic, however, I was going to PM you about your rockers, because I'm thinking about getting a set. I have seen two varietys: Comp Cams 1.6 rockers - decent price Mantapart 1.6 Rockers - more expensive, like most mantapart stuff Have you had any problems installing the rockers? Do you have to grind on anything the head to accomidate the extra arm travel? I thought I read somewhere about problems installing 1.6 rockers on a 60* V6. So I considered getting a set of Comp Cams 1.52 rockers to prevent any of those possible problems. I'd still get the benefit of the rollers, and just a little bit more lift. Quote
Brian P Posted March 12, 2005 Report Posted March 12, 2005 I see no major issues with it. It's like having a few worn lobes on the camshaft...lol I did the 1.6 rockers on my sis's car. For the rears I had to pull the alt, upper plenum, and tilted the shit out of the engine. Worked rather well. Quote

I'm thinking about some 1.6's, but if they aren't a simple bolt on, I'm just gonna go with 1.52's Quote
Brian P Posted March 13, 2005 Report Posted March 13, 2005 the only grinding you'll need to do is if you have 3400/3100 Vin J Manifolds. Even then it's not always needed. The intake runners of the older 3100 and the Gen 2's are smaller enough that they clear without a problem. Quote
