My '93 Grand Prix (3.1L V6, auto, normal options) is intermitantly blowing the ECM fuse. I'm not an auto mechanic, but rather an electrical engineer. I'm looking for some advice to forward to the mechanic that is working on the car.

The mechanic thought is was the computer module itself.... but the day after he replaced the module, the fuse blew after running for about 1/2 hour and about 14 miles. At that point, I tried new fuse, but it blew whan I simply turned the key to ON, not even to START. I tried a couple fuses, they all blew. So tow it back to the mechanic..... He looked for a few days at various wiring harnesses and modules. Yesterday the car started to work for him again.... not blowing fuses. But he didn't fix anything (and put the original computer module back in).

Any ideas? Are there some good ideas that I can send along to my mechanic?

Thanks.

Sounds like you may have a sensor, or wire leading to a sensor, shorting out.

The ECM supplies +5V reference voltage to all sensors.
