jmblimo
When it's cold outside my '94 Supreme automatic will not go into gear at first startup, foward or reverse. After about a minute, it works fine. Any ideas?
Regal_GS_1989
depends how cold it is outside. also, how old is your fluid and is there enough fluid?? When it is very cold, the fluid decomes very thick, just like engine oil. when it is first started up, the fluid can't flow through the tranny, thus, you will not be able to move. After it has been running for a while, the tranny warms up, and the fluid moves more freely.
jmblimo
Not that cold! In the range of 25 - 35 degrees. Fluid level looks good, although it's a little dark. I will change it and the filter soon.
Regal_GS_1989
You say that the fluid is dark. Maybe the filter is plugged up. i have never had experience with a plugged up trranny filter before, so I don't know if the car would still be able to move or not. But either way, it seems as if the tranny is not getting the fluid/pressure that it needs. I would change the fluid and filter ASAP.
