3300 in to a lumina?

3300? You mean the old 90-degree 3300?

If so, do you really NEED to install this engine? Because if not, I wouldn't bother.

If you have to mount it in same way as a 3800 Series I, then you will only have the mounts on the cradle for it if your car is a 91+ (and some 90's will have the mounts too, but not all). You'd also need to swap 3800 brackets off the engine onto the 3300.

3300 = pos. A friend of a friend had one in his Cutlass Ciera and told me it was even more of a dog than MY Cutlass Supreme..

There was no W-Body that came with the 3300, so you'll need the brackets, and possibly a computer chip, as I don't know if any of the stock computers are calibrated for that engine. But I also don't know much about computers, so

I'd honestly put a Series I 3800 in there, they're a dime a dozen, and decently powerful.

its a 91 lumina euro 3.1

Why exactly do you want to put a 3300 in there? Do you have one laying around or something?

My point is that you're probably going to be less than satisfied with this engine, and it may not bolt up to the 4T60/E you have. I'd just find another 3.1.

I beat a V6 Grand Am (pretty sure it was one of those 3300s) with my 1988 Grand Prix with the 2.8. I beat it 3 times from a stoplight. POS engine.

Newsflash: The 3300 is an underpowered piece of shit. Either swap in a decent 90-degree-V6 like the Series I 3800 or don't do anything at all. Plus, I'd learn A LITTLE about my car before I even talked about swapping engines around.

yea I have 3300 all most brand new. I had a 93 grand am with 3300 in it

Sell it on EBay, and go get a 3100 or 3.1 engine. You can get a 3.1 for real cheap from a junkyard, I'd be willing to wager.

it would be just as much work to put the 3300 in as it would to put a 3800 in....and the 3300 is pretty shitty too...

3300 is FAR from shitty. It has identical power ratings as the 3100, but with a broader torque band (TQ peaked at 2,000 and stayed flat).

I think the reason they may have felt slower is they had taller final drives than the 3100's 3.33.

I do agree though, that swapping in a 90° motor is not worth the added work over doing a 3400!

IIRC, all of the 3300's were connected to the THM 125C (3T40) 3-Speed auto, so I'm not sure it would bolt right up to a 4T60 tranny.

Do yourself a favor, sell the 3300 and buy a 3400. The 3400 will drop right in with no major modifications, bolt up to your tranny, and you'll be able to use the same wiring and ECM to run it. IIRC, you will need to get a custom chip burned to get it to run properly, but it will be a hell of a lot cheaper and easier than getting that 3300 to work. Plus the 3400's put out the same HP as a Series I 3800, and haul a 3500 pound W-Body around with ease...
