NORBI
when you get a performance chip for your 2.8 or 3.1 what kind of a gas do you have use, can you still use regular??
Robby1870
the ones I have seen for 2.8/3.1 all reset then timing so it will run on 91+ octane. Those are the ones I have seen, but I think most of them do require 91+ octane.
Brian P
The FDP aka FFP chip runs on 89 octane for best performance, but you could still go with

Robby1870
looks like 114.99 including shipping. Here's the link to the performace chip page http://www.fastfwdperformance.com/pc.htm  If anyone has one of these, let me know if they actually helped your performance, I have a hard time believing them, but if they do what I have heard, I would consider one. NORBI
but can i use this chip with 87 gas?
Robby1870
I think like Brian P said, you could use 87 but would not get best performance, 89 would give best. Yeah, I don't see why you couldn't use 87 with that chip.
Brian P
I used 87 once with the chip and it made a performance difference (less) but there was no pinging or anything, it was fine. Yes, I know for a fact that this chip works. I wish I had hardcore #'s to go by but I have to wait until next time I hit the track
NORBI
Did you see a big difference or just a little and do you think its worth money, i mean 2.8 is slow engine and i have a powerful v8 in a garage but somehow i want to mod my Cutty more then i want to do somethign to mustang. I would really like my CS be much faster.
Brian P
as long as everything is operating okay then go for it, however you also have to remember that your 2.8 has a lot of mileage and would also benefit from a new camshaft, which would make the chip work that much better. You dont even have to get any cam that's super wild
NORBI
yea i think 193k miles is a little high right now i would only get a chip because i cant afford anything else, since Tyco started doing bad i lost my job and my unemployment just ended so i have to be little tight but still want to do something to my car.
