fastbird232
Someone did an atrocious job of attaching the stock spoiler to the trunk lid ('95 GTP), so I took it off and scraped away all the putty they used. Now, is there a kit to put it back on? If not, how do I and still make it look decent?
supreme_style21
Don't believe there is anything special for it. The ones I've come across were just drilled into the trunklid and the holes were sealed up. Put some silicone around the holes, under the posts. fastbird232
Well, here's another problem, which is rather hard to explain... You know how there are 4 bolts holding the spoiler on? The two holes that are towards the rear of the lid are too large for the bolts. I mean, there's nothing for the bolts to grab on the spoiler because the holes are so damn big. The shop that repainted the car used sealant or epoxy in the holes and then stuck the bolts in. Is this the only way to do it? Is my description clear enough, or should I go take a picture? supreme_style21
No I know what you mean... almost sounds like the holes are stripped or someone pulled the mounting bolts out. Can you epoxy them back in?
Dirty Rockstar
Maybe a washer between the head of the bolt and add some watertight silicone around the outside.. But not actually on the paint..
fastbird232
What sort of epoxy would you reccomend on this? Just gob it in there, stick the bolt in, and let it dry?
supreme_style21
I dunno.. I'd find a resin epoxy.. mix it up, fill up the hole and let the bolt/screw set up with the epoxy.
fastbird232
Cool, thanks for the advice. I'll hit Auto Value in the morning. Maybe this will fix that damn trunk leak, too.
GutlessSupreme
I think that's the problem with my TGP's trunk leak too.. gotta silicone up around the spoiler's bolt holes.
rudefyet
that's what caused my trunk leak....too bad i didn't silicone the spoiler bolts till the trunk pan formed a huge rust hole in it
GnatGoSplat
You can always ask this guy where he got his spoiler mounting kit. Washers and silly cone is what I would use.
