Hairdo12
i will try to get a picture up but the hose/pipe combo branches off from the top of the water pump routs down below the coolant overflow tank, comes up and runs along the fire wall near the top of the engine compartment and enters the firewall on the drivers side of the car. i dont have a damn clue what this is. i am betting it has something to do with heater core but what is this monstrosity? the pipe is rusted though where it runs under the overflow tank... if i cant find the part for this i will cut the rotted pipe section out and replace with a piece of hose and clamp it. Justin
Just use a piece of hose, that's a common problem and a common fix. It's for the heater core, you're right. Maybe somebody else on here can chime in if they know the size hose to pick up, I'm thinking 5/8 or 3/4, but not sure.
White93z34
you got the right idea. that hose feeds the heater core, they ALWAYS rust out there. both my luminas i've had to replace the piece with heater hose. make sure you lube the inside of the hose good though when you join the hose to the tube, beings that the heater hose is a little smaller then the pipe. personally i like to replace from the water pump houseing to wherever the hose is no longer rusted. White93z34
i've always used 5/8s, its kinda a pain but it gets the job done.

Robby1870
I had this same problem last year with teh STE. Where the first bracket attaches to that pipe (closest to front of the car), it rusted through and was leaking. So I cut that piece out and replaced with rubber hose. As soon as I replaced that piece and started the car back up, then shut it off, the spot on the metal piece where the other bracket is (near the rear of the engine compartment) broke and was leaking, badly. Do you know how hard it was to cut that piece out?!?! I just replaced the whole thing with rubber, but fucking christ it was bullshit.
