Hey guys, I just installed my DIN-sized deck in my 92 Lumina with the Metra AW-444GM dash kit and GM02 harness. Two issues arose...

1) It seems that someway, somehow, the original BAT+ wire has ceased to operate. Is there a fuse on it somewhere? Or should I just go ahead and run my own always-hot wire?

2) Apparently, there is not enough room inside my dashboard to accomodate a DIN-sized deck. The kit's DIN adapter brings the deck out of the dash about 3/4" - and on top of that, the deck won't fit all the inside of the new setup.

Has anyone else encountered these problems? Please help!

Thanks,

Skylor Williams

I think you can buy flush mount kits, but if you are saying the deck doesn't fit because of there not being enough room in the back of the dash then your outta luck and you'll have to use your existing adapter.

As for the bat-wire you may have blown the fuse..or depending on how to connected everything up (adapter or cut the hanress off and spliced new ends on) you might have a loose connection in your wiring..check that over. The fuses are in the glovebox..if you want to check them first.

Yeah thats what I meant about the dash.

On the other hand, I checked the fuse already, it's not blown. Thats not on the BAT+ wire though, thats for the IGN+ wire.

EDIT: I stand corrected. The fuse labeled "Radio" goes to the IGN+ wire. The fuse labeled "Electronics" goes to the BAT+ wire, and it was blown.

I know its an old topic, but its exactly my problem!

I have this exact dash kit zerophlux was talking about. I can't get the HU (Sony Explode something or another) to fit at all. Whats the dealio? Anyone recommend a better dash kit. I'm pretty sure flush mounting is impossible with this HU, but the equalizer bars (stop it from rocking up and down) don't even fit with this cheapo Circuit City kit. My trim piece for the dash board won't even fit thats how much this thing sticks out.

I have my Kenwood unit in my Lumina flush mounted with no difficulty. I had to shove all the wiring to the right side (Luminas have ample shape for a mile of mile IMO)...dunno about the Cutlass though. I modified that plastic thing in the back of my dash (that the original deck that nipple fits in to)....I heated it up and sorta molded forward (heat and a lot of force will make it go)
