I already have a model Intrigue, but I REALLY want a Cutlass Supreme.

Where did you read that? I can't find any mention of what models they are offering.

If Cutlass Supreme, I hope it's the W-body version!!!

Not even spare parts! Most exterior trim parts are no longer available for my convertible.

Oh well, maybe the demise of Oldsmobile will make collectible classics out of all our Oldsmobiles!

Is that true that Buick will take over Oldsmobile Bravada and make their own SUV next year or late this????????

I doubt it...seeing as there's already the Buick Rendevous...the one Tiger Woods does commercials for...

does anybody know how fast the new auroa v-8 is, after all the motor is a better disigned 3.4 with two extra cylinders  can't go wrong there. 250hp and 260tq but not sure how heavy it is or what the power curve is. the new ones look tight but I wish they could have come in two door. I think oldsmobile should go out with a bang, take a alero and make it the aurora look with a crap load of hp. remeber when gm faised out the grand national and had the gnx model with bigger turbos.

The Awesome GNX produces 275hp and 360ft lb of torque and was capable of mid 13 second runs in factory trim
better yet it was a production car that beat the vette that year with a v-6

Buick could take over manufacturing GM vehicles in China. Shanghai-GM builds cars and sells them there under the Buick name, which is well known there. Buick GL-GS-GLX is based on the Regal, Buick G is based on the Century, Buick GL-8 is based on the Pontiac Transport minivan. The Chinese W-body has more back seat legroom than US models, as they are not sold to the typical worker, but to chauffeur-driven Communist party officials.

I wouldn't put it past GM management to move all the production they can to China. They are starting with engines, do you want a "Genuine Chevrolet" or one Made in China? If this trend continues, buying a new Honda Accord or Toyota Camry may employ more Americans than buying a Lumina.

Shanghai GM to Export Engines to Canada

Shanghai GM has issued the following press release:

Shanghai, China - Shanghai GM, a joint venture between General Motors and Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation Group (SAIC), announced today it has reached an agreement with CAMI Automotive Inc., of Ingersol, Ontario, Canada to export engines beginning in late 2003. Shanghai GM will supply 3.4-liter V-6 engines to the GM-Suzuki manufacturing joint venture.

The engines, developed by GM Powertrain, will power the new Chevrolet Equinox compact SUV to be marketed by GM beginning in 2004. The program represents the first time that an automaker in China will export high-displacement engines in large volumes to a developed country. The engine that will be exported is a variant of GM Powertrain’s overhead valve V6 family and offers customers excellent quality, reliability, durability and performance.

“GM has long been committed to integrating our China operations into our global network to contribute to the development of an advanced automotive industry in China that benefits consumers, GM and our local partners,†said Philip Murtaugh, chairman and CEO of the GM China Group. “In addition,†said Murtaugh, “this is a further example of how GM’s global alliance and partnership strategy is giving us the flexibility to leverage existing capacity at facilities like Shanghai GM for the benefit of car buyers in other parts of the world.â€Â

“An overriding goal of Shanghai GM since its establishment has been to become a globally competitive automaker. The export of engines to North America represents a milestone for China’s most advanced automaking facility and demonstrates Shanghai (MORE) GM’s world-class manufacturing capability,†said Chen Hong, president of Shanghai GM. “Only by becoming a part of the worldwide automotive industry and leveraging our parent companies’ strengths can Shanghai GM and China’s automotive industry thrive in the face of growing competition.â€Â
