GnatGoSplat Posted March 3, 2005 Report Posted March 3, 2005 Bypass the VATS and never worry about it again. If the VATS in the 94 ever goes out, I'm bypassing it. Quote
1990lumina Posted March 3, 2005 Report Posted March 3, 2005 Bummer man.. you have been having a few weeks of bad luck...Disco has that guide to bypassing the system..maybe you should think about it ! - Jeff L. Quote
Regal_GS_1989 Posted March 3, 2005 Report Posted March 3, 2005 I don't think that it is a problem with the key. Just bypass the VATS, and you can use a regular key to start your car Quote
GnatGoSplat Posted March 3, 2005 Report Posted March 3, 2005 I haven't read Disco's method, but I think you can jumper a resistor of the proper value across the VATS control box inputs, or you can do it the fancy way and delete it out of the MEMCAL (PROM). Quote
HokemBokem Posted March 3, 2005 Author Report Posted March 3, 2005 Yea but Im not sure if my dad will want to go bypass a VATS security systym in the car im prob going to sell/trade in soon. I got the damn key working with some q tips and alcohol. Hopefully it will last Quote
DiscoStudd Posted March 3, 2005 Report Posted March 3, 2005 Read through my document, and whenever you trade the car in, the dealer and the new owner will be none the wiser (provided you do a good job of hiding the "resistor pack." If you're worried about theft after disabling it, then install a kill switch (which was brought up on the board a couple of days ago.) Or if you want to do it the hard way, take the column apart and replace the whole lock cylinder (I'm assuming you don't want to get your hands that dirty ...) Quote
Brian P Posted March 3, 2005 Report Posted March 3, 2005 It's probably the key more than the lock cylinder. It doesn't stop thieves anyway I think. I dunno, check edmunds and give me a callback. Quote
supreme_style21 Posted March 4, 2005 Report Posted March 4, 2005 I feel sorry for the thief that steals any of these cars. Quote
Brian P Posted March 4, 2005 Report Posted March 4, 2005 Hey, $100 could be put towards some crack! Quote
supreme_style21 Posted March 4, 2005 Report Posted March 4, 2005 Someone is offering $100? Where?!? I'll pack my bags! Quote
DiscoStudd Posted March 4, 2005 Report Posted March 4, 2005 Did you say crack? How about a Peanut Butter and crack sammitch (tm Tyrone Biggums) ??? Quote
