tloftus
Hey all, I finally got my PC to talk to my ECU (1989 Olds Cutlass Supreme 3.1 V6). I have yet to find any decent software to run - all I can really pull from it is the tach signal and the coolant temperature (and maybe the MPH if it wern't wired to my computer in the garage). Can anyone provide me with any software that they know works with this motor? I'm interested in pulling sensor data, voltage of the O2 sensor / MAP sensor voltage, etc. I'm not a software thief but I'm not willing to spend $200 - $800 for some of these software programs. Let me know what's worked for you![/u]
slick
There is a really awesome one somewhere, and I have it on one of my laptops. Can't think of the name off the top of my head though... I think this is it right here: http://www.andywhittaker.com/ecu/ecu_software.htm
Jcrow
What are you using as an interface? Try EFILive for software.
DiscoStudd
Here's a page that has a list of programs (scroll down the page.) : http://www.techedge.com.au/vehicle/aldl8192/8192hw.htm
tloftus
I built the 2 transistor interface ALDL to Serial. I've tried EFILive and am kind of messing with it now - it is expensive though and only offers a 2 month trial. I've tried most of those on the list also and it's just not giving me all the data I need. I suppose I can try writing a data file for the 89 3.1. Anyone know what part number ECM is in it? Is it the same in my 93 3.1 Cutty? Tom
Jcrow
I'm not sure. I have been wanting to try this for a while now, keep us posted
Jcrow
I assume one is better for each engine? why?
WhiteMonteZZZ
Does anything work w/the 94/95 OBD1.5 system?
zerophlux
Hey I have a 92 Lumina 3.1. I need to know where to find detailed instructions to build the interface connector, from the diag port to my computer. Please help. Thanks, Skylor Williams
Jcrow
OK, I got a laptop! It was free and needs windows reloaded, then I'll build that 2 transistor cable and test it out
Hairdo12
I know this almost a 3 month old thread, but in case anyone is looking for a schematic for an ALDL to RS232 (serial): http://www.akmcables.com/aldlif.jpg I built it on my breadboard and it works 100% with freescan, using the pontiac 3.2 setting (I dont know why its 3.2). Haven't tried it yet on my pops 2000 grand prix GT or my mothers 2003 monte SS.
Turbo231
I always make this plug...maybe I'm the only one who uses it... Try WinALDL...very easy to use, easy DIY cable via the serial port. And it's free...can't beat that. http://winaldl.joby.se/ If you like to pay, Turbolink slaughters everything else hands down and comes with the cable. http://www.turbo-link.com/

Canada
A friend of mine and I went in on halves on a DHP Powertuner.
LukeZ34
Haven't tried it yet on my pops 2000 grand prix GT or my mothers 2003 monte SS. Don't bother trying. The cable you made is only designed for the OBD I sytems. Your parent's cars all have ODB II which uses a completely different interface. GnatGoSplat
I know this almost a 3 month old thread, but in case anyone is looking for a schematic for an ALDL to RS232 (serial): http://www.akmcables.com/aldlif.jpg Here's an even simpler one that only needs 2-transistors: http://medlem.spray.se/gta324/mods/efi/
Hairdo12
Wow that 2 transistor schematic is so simple I didn't think it would work. However it works like a charm. Thanks GnatGoSplat. Does anyone have any or know of any places to find comparable data from the logs so I know how my vehicles diagnostics compares to others? I've done some searching and have come up with very little.
