Bossman429
Mine has something attached to it. Looks like a plastic cover over whatever it is. If no one replies with a REAL answer I'll look at it closer tommorow in the warm shop. 8)

GutlessSupreme
lemme break out the service manual.. not sure if it's the same though, did we go digital in '91 or '92? that looks like the EGR on the TGP so it might've been '92.. in which case dunno if I can help. GutlessSupreme
yea sorry.. definetly the old style. Got nothing in the '92 manual. lemme go look at the TGP quick. ... ok. on mine, I don't see the green ring or the ring that's further out on the port. what's on mine, it kind of looks like half of a rivet, with the curled over, wider end resting on the larger disc with the numbers on it. it looks plastic. It didn't extend the whole length of the port.. the end was uncovered on mine too. If I had my camera I'd take a pic, but a friend borrowed it to take pics of his blown 2.5 turbo mini.. he's big P on td.com
Bossman429
Here's what I could get: That little plastic thing is covering whatever is there. If you need some more help, let me know...We have a 90 Regal GS at work with a locked up 3.1. I can take that one apart and not have to care about breaking anything. 8)

streetdreams
its a filter for the EGR. the engineers realized this was a point of entry for particulates back into the system. (exhaust will have particulates of many unburnt things in it) I dont have one on my car and didnt even know this till today when I asked my friend to take a look at my egr and see if it was working. he told me its working but you are missing the filter and if you care about the car you really should put a filter on it. you should go find a vacuum EGR in the J-yard and grab it's filter. you already know where to look apparently there not somthing to be serviced or maintained just a working part disigned to reduce wear and dirt in thecombustion chamber area I'm getting one tomorrow since like I was told before. anything on a car was put there for a reason
