3.1LUMITIC Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 hmm another dumb question, isnt the MAF on an 3.1 mpfi on the side of the airbox right below where the filter sits :?: Quote
joberlee Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 There is no MAF on a 3.1 mpfi, only on the 3.8 and early 2.8s Quote
3.1LUMITIC Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 Ahhhh then whats this sensor im talking about? Quote
Robby1870 Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 MAT/IAT Manifold intake Temperature/Intake Air Temperature. It just tells the ECM the temp of the air entering the engine. Quote

Robby1870 Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 yeah, the later DOHC's had them, like 95+ I think. Quote
GP1138 Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 yeah, the later DOHC's had them, like 95+ I think. Later 3100's had MAF as well. My Auto school has a Lumina ('98 I think) that has a MAF sensor. Quote
bartonmd Posted March 3, 2005 Report Posted March 3, 2005 What you are descirbing is the same thing my buddy's euro did... It IS the torque convertor lockup solenoid... It basically feels like you are stopping in a stick without your foot on the clutch... engine bogs down, IAC tries to bring it back, hense, the jerking. Torque convertor solenoid is a $30 part that was redesigned in '91 so it doesn't do it as bad. It's actually a screen on the solenoid that gets clogged up and causes the TCC solenoid to stay engaged. He's a mechanic (Dodge), but has friends who work at the Pontiac/Olds place and they say those years of cars do this sometimes when that screen gets clogged. $35 and 2 hours. done. Mike Quote
