I have a 1990 BUICK REGAL GS/3.8/ V.6/AUTO. When driving the car will be running fine,then it will jerk and then die. It usually starts right back up,and when you start it back it will run fine for a while like a around town a mile or so then do it again.It will do it when your slowing down to stop,or turning the corner.I have not checked real good,but it does not seem to do it while driving down the highway????????????? :bawl:

how new is your fuel filter? When I had my '88 CS, it used to stall when you put it in reverse....I changed the fuel filter out (costs like $7), put some gumout extra fuel injector cleaner in the tank, ran it hard for a tankful and it ran fine after that.

TRY CHANGING YOUR COILPACKS AND ICM AND TURN OFF CAPS LOCK.

It dies only when I am going down the road, or when I turn the corner, or stop. When I'm setting still with it running it is fine.

So when your at a stop it dies. But when sitting still its fine?

No, when he is coming to a stop, like braking. It makes sense.

I dunno if those engines have a MAF, if so maybe it's bad. You should clean your IAC (as someone stated above) and the TB, top engine cleaner. I say take a couple hundred bucks, go to the parts store and get everything you need to do a full tuneup.

what's a MAF? and what's is IAC?

MAF = Mass Air Flow sensor

IAC = Idle Air Control

the MAF senses the amount of air passing through the throttle body

The idle air control controls the amount of air that goes through to keep idle speed specific.

try the IAC... had the same problem with my 90 3.1 Lumina.. took me forever to figure it out but that did solve the problem. also, if the check engine light comes on, get that coded asap.. that may help you immensely if it ever goes on.

TCC = Torque Converter Clutch. This little device locks the sides of the torque converter (one that the engine turns, and the other tranny fluid turns, which turns the tranny over) so that have the same angular velocity. Usually, when its not locked up, the tranny side (stator, I think) will turn a bit slower than the engine side, due to losses in the fluid that turns it. Locking of the Torque Converter gives better gas mileage because the engine rotational speed is more direcly related to transmission rotational speed. I can go more indepth, if you would like.

I still think this could be caused by the CPS.

Yeah it's got a MAF, and they're known to go bad. As a minimum, maybe cleaning it would help.

When I had my '88 Regal it would pull that shit when I would slow down for a red light and such...MAF was changed and the Regal was all better! Are you getting a SES light?
