man i just did mine and had no issues whatsoever......it was a fairly easy project. I mean a typical Z34 project. Just had to tweak the A/C line i believe about 1/4" the starter falls out with a little pressure.

Or......

Quit being a pansy just kick yank pull twist tweak and swear. That usually does wonders.

a few of the oil hose's are in the way.

i will try the solenoid removal first. I was going to do this but it was getting dark.

man you guys must have odd odd Z34's. I did mine without removing anything.....my buddy did his last week without removing anything. I don't understand you guys. It was a bitch coming out but nothing had to be removed at all. In either situations on my 91 and his 93. In and Out in about 30 minutes. I don't get it. :bash: :bash: :bash:

the oil cooler is still in, But the lines give enuf so they dont even interfeer with the removal. The problem i have are the two hose's going to where the oil filter screws on at, They are about as thick as a quarter and have no clamps on them. They seem to just slide on something but i cant get them off. Maybe they have been sealed on??

also the two manuals i have on the z34 have no listing of how to remove the oil cooler assembly. Is there any info about this online?

Thanks

Can you twist the hoses at all? Should break them loose. Or get one of those needle tools and loosen it up that way.

Is it actually moving at all? if not the Z wants to die.

Don't let it. cut the starter out if you have to.

the z may want to die.....but i will get the roto zip out before i let that happen!

im going to give it another go tommarow, This is getting rediculus.

On top of all this crap, autozone wants 80 freakin dollars, and autovalue wants 86.99 for the starter.

thats AFTER core.

what in the hell is this country coming to,80 bucks for a starter?????

You remove the oil cooler by loosening the big center bolt that the filter screws on to. Then the cooler drops down enough so that you can get to the clamps hoding the hoses on. It's a pain in the ass, especially to put it back on.

Not all 3.4s have the oil cooler assembly, that may be why it was such a snap for you other guys.

don't be afraid of getting your hands cut up thats what happens when you work on cars :?

Exactly

I do

If it helps when it finally does come out the ass of the starter will be facing the ass of the car. Starter has to be pulled out a little then jammed backwards so it will come back out the front past the crossmember. You will cut yourself. Just don't worry open cuts never got worse by dipping oil in them

i can get the part of the starter that turns the flexplate to get about a half inch from coming out of the tranny.

Ive reefed the fuck out of it, And no way in hell its coming out.

The dam hose that goes to the oil filter thing is still in the way

im seriously about to just cut that hose and stick a peice of bigger hose on the two peices and just silicone the fucker in place.

This is the absolute most trouble any car has ever given me, Ive pulled freakin engines, swapped trannys and rebuilt top half's of engines in the time its taken me to change the starter.

This is becoming quite the joke.
