Guest TurboSedan
i'm pulling my 3.1 Turbo off of the engine stand today so i can replace the rear cam cover gasket and the rear main seal. anyone know the torque spec for the 3 bolts that hold the rear cam cover on? and do i use RTV with the gasket? i was thinking of using a thin layer of black RTV on both sides..... TIA

Guest TurboSedan
use german specs, gutentight um can you elaborate? ok i got the rear block face cleaned up and replaced the rear main seal. i have the rear cam cover surfaces all cleaned up and ready to go on.... it's 3 small 10mm bolts and uses a cork gasket...does that mean no RTV or? i went to the library and looked through their Chilton, Haynes & Mitchell repair manuals and came up empty handed :? any help really appreciated, i need to get this done before i have to bolt the motor back up to the stand. it's hanging off the cherry picker right now. thanks

dbtk2
If you can't find the specs, just tighten it to the same as the front cover, I would think its pretty similar. Shawn
Guest TurboSedan
i got the specs from a guy on 60*V6. 18 ft/lbs but since my ft/lb TQ wrench only goes down to 20, i set them at 216 in/lbs with my in/lb wrench i installed the cork gasket dry btw. the engine is back on the stand now, waiting for me to get the flywheel resurfaced... thanks
