i'm pulling my 3.1 Turbo off of the engine stand today so i can replace the rear cam cover gasket and the rear main seal.

anyone know the torque spec for the 3 bolts that hold the rear cam cover on? and do i use RTV with the gasket? i was thinking of using a thin layer of black RTV on both sides.....

TIA

use german specs, gutentight

um can you elaborate?

ok i got the rear block face cleaned up and replaced the rear main seal. i have the rear cam cover surfaces all cleaned up and ready to go on....

it's 3 small 10mm bolts and uses a cork gasket...does that mean no RTV or?

i went to the library and looked through their Chilton, Haynes & Mitchell repair manuals and came up empty handed :?

any help really appreciated, i need to get this done before i have to bolt the motor back up to the stand. it's hanging off the cherry picker right now.

thanks

i got the specs from a guy on 60*V6. 18 ft/lbs but since my ft/lb TQ wrench only goes down to 20, i set them at 216 in/lbs with my in/lb wrench :) i installed the cork gasket dry btw.

the engine is back on the stand now, waiting for me to get the flywheel resurfaced...

thanks
