rudefyet
Ok...my trans is having problems Going up hill the trans struggles to stay in gear. I don't know how to describe it, you barely press the gas it downshifts which is annoying as hell, but if it stays in gear is act's like something is slipping, it just revs then catches, revs then catches, and so on Also, when you floor it, it almost refuses to shift at the top of 2nd and 3rd gear until you let off the gas. I'll top out in 3rd and it won't shift, i let off the gas it'll shift to 4th, but as soon as i floor it again it will downshift to 3rd again at the freakin rev limiter Any ideas? I'm gonna assume the shifting late/early is due to vaccum, but the slipping out of gear going up hills may be due to the fact my trans fluid is shot. I can only hope... THe_DeTAiL3R
Change your trans fluid! The only time my 2.8 ever slipped was when I was about a quart low on tranny fluid when I topped it up it was fine (tranny pan gasket was shot). Change the filter/fluid make sure it's not leaking, if it's still doing it add a bottle of Lucas and put your car up for sale. :| You can quickly figure out if the vac modulator is bad by unplugging the vac line that goes to it, and plugging the line (it will shift real hard). rudefyet
I have plans to do a thorough tune-up as soon as we have another 60-70 degree day...until then i'll just refrain from driving too much
THe_DeTAiL3R
Or you can do like me and buy a $20 fluid/air pump, jam it down the dipstick tube and suck out as much as you can (almost 4qts). I plan on getting under the car when it gets warmer to do the complete job though, but it has helped with my hard shifts.
