Cutlass88er Posted February 20, 2005 Report Posted February 20, 2005 So I found 92 international and test drove it today. Looks awesome and it's a steal with only 100k for $900. The only prob seems to be that it "wobbles!" The chick that was selling it says she doesn't remember when it started happening and never had it checked out. I looked all around and I didn't see a tire out of round or any dimples on the tire. WHat could it be and how much. I seems a little too good to be true for the condition of the cars. I think there may be more about the wobble. The engine and tranny seem perfect, she has all the work on it, it was her uncle's until last fall. Any ideas and how much it would cause to fix it it's not an out of round tire? -D Quote
terryk2003 Posted February 20, 2005 Report Posted February 20, 2005 really sounds like a slipped belt in a tire...if not, could be a bent rim...or maybe a tire out of balance...is it front or rear!?...and, how bad is it!?... Quote
Cutlass88er Posted February 20, 2005 Author Report Posted February 20, 2005 Front, it goes away after after 15mph and comes back after 50. It feels like it's the front left tire, but I can't tell. It's a stick it that matters. -D Quote
Daggar Posted February 20, 2005 Report Posted February 20, 2005 All wheel weights there? It does sound like a out of balance tire Quote
THe_DeTAiL3R Posted February 20, 2005 Report Posted February 20, 2005 I had a bad tire, you couldn't tell till it was spinning on the balancer. Sounds most likely like a tire problem, or possibly balljoint, tierod, etc. Car sounds like a deal! Quote
GP1138 Posted February 20, 2005 Report Posted February 20, 2005 You did check the lugnuts, right? Make sure they're all torqued down properly? Quote
Justin Posted February 20, 2005 Report Posted February 20, 2005 It would almost have to be either the tire, wheel, or hub assembly at worst. Throw the spare on it and see if that cures it, then you'll know for sure. Quote
Cutlass88er Posted February 20, 2005 Author Report Posted February 20, 2005 Thanks, I'll call her and see what happens -D Quote
supreme_style21 Posted February 20, 2005 Report Posted February 20, 2005 Thanks, I'll call her and see what happens-D Don't have her do the work. Make it sound bad and get the price even lower. Even at $900, its quite a deal... I'd buy it and then look for the solution. It should be an economical fix. Quote

Dannymik Posted February 20, 2005 Report Posted February 20, 2005 sounds like there's alot of life left in her...go for it, but try to get the price down 200-300 due to the wobble. If its the hub then that will be your most expensive repair. Quote
5speedz34 Posted February 20, 2005 Report Posted February 20, 2005 Is it a coupe or a sedan, it still sounds like a good deal. I would go for it! Quote

MaroonRegal Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 Get it! Is '92 the first year of the later ground effects? I love that year of Intl. Quote
Cutlass88er Posted February 21, 2005 Author Report Posted February 21, 2005 So I called today to see what's up with the car and she tells me that somebody skidded into it while parked on the street last night (we got nasty wet snow yesterday). The guy slammed into rear driver's quarter panel. Now she's selling it for $200 but I don't think it's worth it with all that damage. Which sucks cause I really wanted it and the tie rod on the escort broke and now I'm out of a car -D Quote
jeremy Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 that really sucks....I would look for a newer style cutty with the mini quads anyway Quote
Cutlass88er Posted February 21, 2005 Author Report Posted February 21, 2005 It was a 92 so it had the quads. -D Quote
jeremy Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 It was a 92 so it had the quads.-D shows you what I know, I didn't think they started quads until '93 Quote
Prospeeder Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 200, thats pretty cheap, go find a new quarter panel! Quote
94CutlassSLCoupe Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 the 1/4 panel may even be fixable depending on how hard the hit was. I never see the 2 door 92-up CS's in the Junkyard unless they are super wrecked...and i think there is a reason behind that Quote
Cutlass88er Posted February 22, 2005 Author Report Posted February 22, 2005 I just came back from the quarter glass is cracked, tire popped, lens gone, trailing arms busted.... She's obviously not a car person, I may just pick it up for parts.... never mind she just called, sold it for scrap! I should have just brought it the first day!!! -D Quote
White93z34 Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 don't worry these cars are common as hell, i'm sure another will turn up withen a week. Quote
terryk2003 Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 damn...that sux that the car is now scrap...(might be good for some cutty owners needing parts though )...anywayz, keep lookin...i'm sure you'll find something! Quote
Dannymik Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 that sucks, but like they all said, there are lots of those types of cars out there! goodluck Quote
