SSPSU93
I notice in cold morning starts my car's idle is irratic. It will go up to 2000 rpm and then down to the point of stalling. I took my car to a dealership and they found that I had a bad o2 sensor which was replaced and also noticed that my idle air control valve was bad and that was replaced. So the car was running fine until one week we had weather in the 70's(beginning of the week) and then towards the end of the week the temp dipped to the 30's and the car's idling was irratic again. Does any body have any suggestions on why my car is doing this and is any body else have this problem with their cars? Oh, I have a 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP with 120,000> Is there any thing else that might need replace?
CuttySup
Use the search function next time. There's a lot of topics about this. Check the injectors. Mine did the same thing every morning. I ran some fuel system cleaner through it, drove it for a few days using full throttle a few times and it cleaned right up. Hasn't done it in a long time. 5speedz34
Could really be anything. Have you had your intake gaskets done yet? Those are notorious on the 3.4, and that's what it sounds like. Does it go away after it warms up? If so it's probably them.
JoroCorona
Id bet on intake gaskets. Once they warm up the seal okay, but when they are cold they fuck up the idle.
SSPSU93
Hey Guys, Thanks for the input. Yeh, it does get better after warming up. So how much would it run me to get the intake gaskets replaced? Thanks again guys.
Sherman The Buick
Just had mine done on a 3.1. Figure about 80.00-90.00 for the gaskets (no cheapies) and maybe two hours labor? My mechanic used Fel-Pro. I had the water pump and valve covers and plenum gaskets changed too, so that's a rough estimate.

But, if you do decide to have them done, expect $300-$400.
