Guest TurboSedan
i just did my timing cover a few days ago; i posted a thread about it with pics on the 60*V6 forum. i would install the timing cover gasket with a thin layer of black RTV on both sides and you'll need to use sealant on one of the bolts (i used TFTE paste - it goes through a coolant jacket). as for the waterpump gasket, i installed mine completely dry but maybe i should have used a thin layer of RTV like i did with the timing cover? oh well, if it leaks it is very easy to replace anyway. the oil pan is installed dry except for the ends...you should use black RTV there. it's really easy to do since it's a one piece gasket and the FelPro oil pan gasket comes with four Snap-Ups, or if you have it on an engine stand like me just flip 'er over good luck any other questions just ask. THe_DeTAiL3R
I used the blue RTV on my waterpump gasket and no leaks...
Brian P
The GM manual calls for a couple locations for RTV/sealant when installing the oil pan gasket. You could always throw that in the old man's face....LOL
