yet another tranny question

whats the best way to check to see if your trans fluid is high or low i dont have my owners manual so im out of luck till some 1 tells me thanks again but how do yo tell when you need your fluid chajnged mines is a light brown so im guessing that it needs to be done

To check the level just get the transmission warm (drive it) and on a level surface with the engine running and in park. It should be inbetween the hash marks.

 

Light brown? Thats a weird color.....typically ATF darkness......its supposed to be a nice translucent red.

yea i think its burn and ready to be changed im gonna flush it and new fliter it some time when its dry pavment day its been snowing here tha last few days

It turns light brown when all the good additives in the fluid are gone. It turns dark when friction materials are burning off into it. Your fluid is old, that's all. You'd be better off changing it asap, just so your clutch packs and bands don't start suffering from the bad fluid.

It my owners manual it says

 

let car run in park for 5 min

shift through each gear

check while it's running in park

 

You'll get a good reading this way.
