KING JOKER
the pump was not leaking anywhere but i think it might be the hose.... is this a hard part to replace?
terryk2003
well, there's 2 hoses...one is pressure, the other one is a return line...you'll have to figure out which it is...i'm not sure how hard it is to replace on a w...i've never had to replace one...yet... Guest Anonymous
I have a similar problem in the 92. I hear the pump doing its thing, but nothing happens.... no power steering. The car has several leaks, i assume this may be one of them? Sometimes, the power steering comes in and out.
joberlee
The lines aren't too hard to get at on most of the w-bodys. What year make model engine trans is it?
KING JOKER
it is a 92 cutlass supreme coupe with a 3.1 auto
joberlee
If you look at the back of the power steering pump you can see that 2 lines. They follow the engine block down and go right to the rack and pinion. If it's leaking a lot I would suspect the high pressure line, if it's just kind of dribbling out, as opposed to spraying out, I would look at the low pressure return line. Be careful when you are working on the pump. The reservior is plastic and I have broken the return line fitting off on one before.
