Yeah... no kidding... anyone have any tips on removing on removing the digital EGR? I've got a guy who need to replace the gasket on a 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix with the DOHC... anyone want to fill us in? Thanks!

Digital EGR? Whether it's the 3.1 or 3.4 it should be two 10mm bolts and you can remove it. Are you talking about the flex tube? Cause thats a different story...

yeah i'm talking about the flex tube....isn't that attached to the EGR?

I think that flex tube that brings back the exhaust is actually connected to a separeate piece of metal (~1/2in thick) that gets sandwiched between the EGR and the plenum. Never was able to remove the tube from it but the two 10mm bolts that hold it also hold it also hold the EGR in place. I had to rock the engine forward to get to the back bolt.

So, do you want to remove the end that is screwed to the exhaust manifold, or the end that is mounted to the plenum?

If you're talking about the exhaust manifold end, just heat it up with a small torch, and it will loosen easily.

But the other end is different. I'm sure you already know how to disconnect the EGR assembly from the plenum, and just want to disconnect the tube from the EGR plate. There will be one or two 10mm bolts that connect the tube to the EGR assembly. Just heat the part that the bolts go into, and slowly remove the bolts. If they are hard to turn, use an impact wrench.

Thanks for the help...actually thanks to everyone for their help collectively. hopefully i'll get it right when the weather cleans up a little and i take my plenum off again. thanks again

Okay, i think this has been one the site for a while but.......you ppl make me laugh. seriously to take the plenum off of a 3.1 you don't need to unhook the flex tube alright. there are 3 fricken nuts and then you pull the egr valve off of the plenum bolts. And don't tell me you can't do it alright because friday night i took mine off and that is how i did it. (took plenum off and intake).

sorry to make you ppl sound stupid but it only takes like 2 minutes to get the egr unattached from the plenum.
