90TGP
What tools does it take to swap out the rear leafspring? Can I do it in my driveway?
White93z34
its a real pain to do even with access to a lift. i've heard of a spring compressor that supposedly makes the installation a breeze, but i haven't used one myself. haveing a impact for some of the strut bolts is a big help. NOHC_WBody
If you've got the hanging roller tool, it's easy. It takes two floor jacks & jackstands to do it without it. You gotta unbolt the struts and then let one side down and then take the spring out. But yeah, it's a bitch to do without the roller. [edit]..this is it. Call around and try to find someplace that rents them. http://tools.batauto.com/?crn=310&action=show&show_products_mode=cat_click
GnatGoSplat
I have that tool. I paid around $100 for it on Ebay, but it was worth it. Yep, it was easy to use. It might have been a bit easier if I could have lifted the car a little higher than my jackstands would allow, but I managed. The tool does make the job fairly simple. When I swapped my rear spring, I started after lunch and finished by mid-afternoon. That was even with a little difficulty getting the new spring to seat right so I could install the bolts.
