jmblimo
I think I've got a handle on that cam hold-down tool. Looks like it's simple to make out of bar stock. Are the cam gears pressed on, with a puller being needed for removal, or are they simply held on by the bolt and will come off easily? Mine info need is for my '94. From what I have read, the year makes a difference as to the cam gears. Another question: What is the common oil leak I read about? Is it something that can be repaired while doing the belt? Jamz
The common oil leak you re talkin about must be the Oil Shaft Drive pump assy somethinglikethat ... anyway ... This is the place where distributor used to go before 87 ( or 86 ? ) anyway ... This place is situated under the TB direct on the block and the o-ring is prone to leak . This is not a hard job on normal 3.1 , but i ve been told that this is very different on the 3.4 since you got to remove the plenum or something to go there ... anyway , you can't repair it while doing the belt , this is at the total opposite side of the engine . Regal_GS_1989
to replace the O-ring on a 3.4, you pretty much need to remove the rear head. I think a couple people on here said that there is a small piece on the head that can be ground off in order get the shaft out without removing the head. I'm sure one of them will chime in.
