Stevo
I have a 93' Cutlass with a 3.4L When I start it and it's cold the engine sounds fine. When the engine warms up the thing produces a diesel sounding knock. Can anyone tell me WTF this could be? I'm all out of ideas.

Crimson Fury Z
tried adding that lifter tick additive? i did that and it hasn't ticked for over 2 years. when you add it, make sure the oil is either drained a little or low, so you wont overfill it. havikx
i had a knock like that. turned out to be the water pump. try the pour in stuff and then if it doesnt work...its probably a piece of hardware. personally...probalby the water pump. Stevo
Well ... I'm feeling kinda stupid. Just to show by how much I'm gonna be up front. I have checked the dipstick constantly and everytime the damn thing was showing sufficient oil but... This was with the car running because I would be motivated by the knock to look and I did so immediately after stopping. I flushed the engine and drained/changed the oil. (moving to Castrol Synthetic finally) Turns out I was "missing" quite a bit of oil thanks to the OIL PUMP drive seal. More oil than usual. Man is my face red On a side note I did catch a badly messed up ball joint that needs replacing. Thanks for the advice fellas, I appreciate it.
