Lee Posted February 9, 2005 Report Posted February 9, 2005 I have to admit, I aspire to a better car..............................A 94 Cutty with a 3.4 and 5 speed. Sandstone in color with the converable taillights and spoiler. Dual exhaust and [Gold/yellow Goodyear Eagles]. Maybe that would clash? Yeah I know, no 3.4 in a 94. At least I'm pretty sure they didn't. BUT!!! I do so like looking at my dash. It needs more color though. Quote
digitaloutsider Posted February 9, 2005 Report Posted February 9, 2005 They had 3.4's in '94. No 5-speed though. Quote

ss_black Posted February 12, 2005 Report Posted February 12, 2005 Guys, all the shit we get about "Don't spend the money on this car, get a new one or lease a car" defineltely pisses us off. It's true it would be easier to go that root. It's true that a Honda accord is easy to hook up because everything is made for it. Yet, look at us. We are not mechanics. We have jobs that are not even connected to automotive industry. While others bash us, we became true mechanics (self-lerners). That is quite an accomplishment. Maybe we don't know every single car, but we know the W inside out. And when we struggle to fit a ground effect on our car or a dash cluster from a different make and model, it really tests our patience. I think it just makes us stronger. As for your girlfriends, if they don't get what you are doing ... I guess they shouldn't be your girlfriends. She's a girl, but first of all she should be your friend. Good friends at least try to apprciate what their friends do. Back in 2001 when I swapped my engine, most of my relatives and my friend mechanics kept asking me why I haven't gotten the Regal. I told them: there's a lot of 2001 Regals out there. But how many Luminas with the L67 and Regal intiriors are there. I strived for being original and tried building a car that would suit me. I have finally achieved it. When people ask me how much money I've put in... I don't know. I never count. This is my hobby. This is something that keeps me sane when I get bogged by work or a not working relationship. At least when you get it right, it works for you and it doesn't talk back and make you feel bad about yourself! The result...the appraises that I get from other inthusiats, friends, relatives. And my fiancee gets mad at me when I get negative about my car. She loves it, loves driving it. I mean would you imagine a 5'2" Barbie Doll behind the wheel of my SS? It's a quite a head turner. And it takes my breath away when she drops me off at the train and drives off rumbling. I hope this helps somewhat. Jack Quote
Darksyde Posted February 12, 2005 Report Posted February 12, 2005 Yet, look at us. We are not mechanics. Hey speak for yourself i'm a mechanic..... Rather not be though. I'd rather working on my car be my hobby. It really gets to me sometimes. I mean after a long day of working on other peoples crap, i mean it is nice to work on my own but by the end of the day i dont ever wanna see a car again. But I love my W....always will. Just turned 120000 miles on the odometer....technically only 5979 miles on it. I'll never give it up. Unless i find a Z34 with a stick....then the wife can have my Z34 Quote
90TGP Posted February 12, 2005 Report Posted February 12, 2005 I've asked myself why I shouldn't just get a new car, then I remember that I am a poor college student. But I keep shoveling money into my car because it's unique. Sure, I've thought about selling it and getting a different car lots of times. I wouldn't mind a DSM or a 3rdgen. But my TGP still turns a lot of heads at carshows. 8) Quote
Cutlass88er Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 Trust me, never get rid of you ride. It was a little over a year ago that I got rid of my silver-metallic 1988 Cutlass Supreme SL, and I still can't get it out of my mind! It had all the SL opts, I added the driver information system, remote starter/trunk opener, and digital cluster. It also had all the probs, slipping tranny, peeling paint and loose headliner, and the MULTIPLE dings that found their way onto my sheet metal. I still loved that car, people would make fun of me but I laughed. I loved my car quirks and all. They didn't love their cars, they barely knew what kind of gas to put in them. My car was made nov 87 on a wednsday! It was one of the first 5000 CSs to roll off the line! In the 2 1/2 years I had it, it never stalled or refused to start up. Even in the wisconsin cold. I gave it synthetic oil/tranny fluid and dex-cool. A year ago I had no where to keep the Olds, my dad gave me his 94' Prizm and then the Olds had 195K on it and was aging fast. I just could not afford to put any more maintenance on it, I'm a PCS (poor college student) and even when I did it myself I just barely afforded the all around brakes I NEEDED. Now everytime I step into my 93' F.O.R.D. Escort wagon(someone totalled my Prizm and this was $300), I think of what I could have been getting into, a nicely warmed up car that I can actually drive in snow and feel safe in, my iBook is thicker than the door on the F.O.R.D). Now a year later I'm trying to sell the F.O.R.D and get another CS or a nice Lumi. Honestly I think Ws are the closest thing to perfect a car can be. All are sporty, sexy, stylish, fast(well my cs could have used some work in that area), durable(I defy any other car platform to go thru what me and my 18-20yo firends did to that car, what a trooper), and can they carry a load. Plus it really is a great feeling to sit in your friends lumina and kick a ricers ass. Fuck a F.O.R.D. Sour-ass/Sable, or a Chrysler LH/JA-bod Stratus/Sebring/Interpid/Cirrurs/Vision/Breeze, when it comes to the last real american mid-size metal, I think the only place to go is GM's W! -D 8) BTW w00t for OEM v8s in 05 Monte/Impala, I, like all of you must be, am dreaming of one of those suckers in my car! Prospeeder Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 well, The mercury Disabled are nice cars, the 3.0 goes on and on and on and on and on and on, bu the car itself overtime falls apart, and the motor runs like new, its crazy, and they look nice too, but the 3.8, for a little more torque, and worse gas mileage, it eats head gaskets Quote
