GnatGoSplat Posted September 12, 2002 Report Posted September 12, 2002 What year is your car? The remotes were changed at one point. Quote
stlunatics2oo3 Posted September 12, 2002 Author Report Posted September 12, 2002 it is an 89 cutlass supreme sl Quote
GnatGoSplat Posted September 12, 2002 Report Posted September 12, 2002 You need a remote that looks like this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1856701362 That one has a Pontiac logo, but the logo isn't important - any logo will work. Just make note of button arrangement - LOCK and UNLOCK on the top row, TRUNK on the bottom centered. Any square remote with that arrangement will work. To further verify, if it has "TRW" on the back, then it's definitely the right remote. Even Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury remotes the same shape, same layout, with "TRW" on the back will work! My mom's 94 Lincoln Mark VIII remote works on my '90 Grand Prix and '89 Cutlass! Quote
stlunatics2oo3 Posted September 12, 2002 Author Report Posted September 12, 2002 thanks i will have to get one from teh local junk yard that is like that cause my local dealer ship said that teh remote for these cars were discontinued so thanks a bunch Quote
GnatGoSplat Posted September 12, 2002 Report Posted September 12, 2002 Ebay always has a few of them. I bought all mine on Ebay for about $10-15 each. Quote
Guest Posted September 18, 2002 Report Posted September 18, 2002 Gotta warn ya...The early remote reciever boxes are notorious for breaking.(located under the rear shelf panel behind back seat) Mines busted now.$200 for a new one. Hope yours is ok. Quote

GnatGoSplat Posted September 19, 2002 Report Posted September 19, 2002 The module probably needs resoldering. All of them do. Quote
Guest Posted September 19, 2002 Report Posted September 19, 2002 Had mine soldered and it worked for one whole day! Whoppee. I probably gonna have to cough up the cash for a new one by next Spring. Quote
GnatGoSplat Posted September 19, 2002 Report Posted September 19, 2002 Must not be soldered good enough! You have to solder ALL of it too. Quote
Guest Posted September 20, 2002 Report Posted September 20, 2002 The box is so massacared now that I don't think it'll ever work right again. Its been resoldered twice now. Once completely and once partial. Gotta find that money tree.... Quote
