Clutches for LQ1/284

So I'm pricing out clutches right now. Clutchmasters has an OEM clutch listed for $580...which is insane.

Since this car is going to be turbocharged, I want a clutch that can hold 400 ft-lbs of torque. I emailed clutchmaters to see what they can offer.....I've had custom clutches built by them for tractors and such before...this shouldn't be any different.

Anyone else make a strong clutch? What are you guys using?

I am using basically a stock clutch, I think it was about $350. Not too bad. But I have had no problems with it, in fact it still looked pretty much new when I recently had it apart, and I'm not exactly the easiest driver, although I am pretty easy on clutches.

What clutch do you have? Your website doesn't exactly work....unless you want to give me your password.

Yah that is my own site for hosting pics, adn I locked it.

I don't have any pics of it, and I do not know what type it is. I had it changed with the engine about 9,000 miles ago.

SPEC is cheap and highly recommended by everyone I have ever talked with who has used one. I have one waiting to go into my Honda.

I put stock GM in when I redid the clutch about 2 years ago. I heard Centerforce was nasty on the input shaft and throwout berring. Too much grip. But stock clutch is wonderful here no probs in 2 years.

I have an Advanced Auto 'Zoom' clutch in my 284 equipped TGP and mine is already starting to slip a little.

I would put the OEM clutch in it...........if I didn't need it to hold a fair bit of power. But since it won't, I can't.

We got the Zoom clutch, I guess I'll see how I like it. I wish I remember which one was in my white car, I really liek that one. The car will be stock, on a 9.25:1 compression motor, so it holding power isn't an issue.
